Dear Dave, 2024 Fellowship
The DEAR DAVE, 2024 Fellowship supports photographers by awarding $1,000 to one recipient and featuring their portfolio in DEAR DAVE magazine. Additionally, two other portfolios will be published in an upcoming issue, and the top 40 entrants’ work will be archived on the DEAR DAVE website. The fellowship aims to promote unique and underrepresented photography.
ARTPHILEIN PHOTOBOOK CONTEST 2024
The ARTPHILEIN PHOTOBOOK CONTEST 2024 invites photographers to explore the theme “Utopia: a perfect place or no place?” The winner receives a residency in Lugano, the production of their photobook by Artphilein Editions, 25% of the printed copies, and an exhibition at the organizer’s space. The De Pietri Artphilein Foundation promotes contemporary photography through publications and exhibitions.
Copenhagen Photo Festival
Do you want to receive international exposure and connect with the photography industry in the Nordics? This is an open call for visual artists and photographers interested in a solo exhibition at Copenhagen Photo Festival 2025. Copenhagen Photo Festival is looking for interesting projects that engage with the overarching theme for the 2025 edition ‘Fremkaldelse / Into the Light’.
2024 Paris Photo–Aperture PhotoBook Awards
The 2024 Paris Photo–Aperture PhotoBook Awards celebrate the photobook’s role in photography with three categories: First PhotoBook, PhotoBook of the Year, and Photography Catalog of the Year. The First PhotoBook winner receives $10,000, while the other categories recognize the best photobooks and catalogs of the year. Shortlisted books are exhibited at Paris Photo and internationally. Submissions must be received by September 6, 2024.
FORMAT International Photography Festival
The FORMAT25 Open Call invites photographers, artists, curators, and collectives to submit projects for the FORMAT International Photography Festival 2025, themed “CONFLICTED.” Up to 5 winning entries will be exhibited and receive awards, including artist fees, travel reimbursement, accommodation, and production costs. Additional awards offer cash prizes and services. The festival, taking place from March 13 to April 6, 2025, is a platform for innovative and diverse photographic works.

Artadia Awards
The Artadia Awards provide financial support, exposure, and recognition to artists. The awards are unrestricted, allowing artists to use the funds in any way they choose. Three Awardees in each partner city will receive unrestricted funds of $10,000. Marciano Artadia Awardee receives unrestricted funds of $25,000. Funds are not granted for continuing education, or for films for cinematic distribution. Details, including application deadlines for each city, can be found on the Artadia Awards Website.
The Arnold Newman Prize
A $20,000 prize awarded annually to a photographer whose work demonstrates a compelling new vision in photographic portraiture. In addition to the winner, the jury selects three finalists each year who are invited to participate in an exhibit at the Griffin Museum of Photography. The Prize is generously funded by the Arnold & Augusta Newman Foundation and proudly administered by Maine Media. Learn more.

The PhMuseum 2024 Women Photographers Grant offers €10,000 in cash, projections at Photo Vogue Festival, and a PhMuseum Lab show. The Alicia Patterson Foundation Fellowship Award
The Alicia Patterson Fellowships are open only to U.S. citizens who are full-time print journalists, or to non-U.S. citizens who work full-time for U.S. print publications, either in America or abroad. The aim of the award is to improve the quality of U.S. print journalism.
APA / Lucie Foundation Scholarship
The APA/Lucie Foundation Scholarship awards one grant of $5,000 to a professional photographer beginning a new project idea, or for a work in progress of a specific series.

Fotovisura Grant
FotoVisura aims to support personal photography projects and encourage the production and development of photography outside of the commercial realm. The Grant recognizes photographers as judged by their images, story, dedication and commitment of the photographer to the story or concept.
Fulbright-National Geographic Storytelling Fellowship
The Fulbright-National Geographic Storytelling Fellowship, a component of the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, provides opportunities for selected Fulbright US Student Study/Research grantees to participate in an academic year of storytelling on a globally significant theme. This Fellowship is made possible through a partnership between the U.S. Department of State and the National Geographic Society.
HCB Award
The Henri Cartier-Bresson Award is open to photographers with “an approach close to that of documentary” and the £35,000 is awarded every other year.
Ian Parry Scholarship
The Ian Parry Scholarship Ian Parry was a photojournalist who died while on assignment for The Sunday Times during the Romanian revolution in 1989. He was just 24 years of age. Aidan Sullivan, then picture editor, and Ian’s friends and family created the Ian Parry Scholarship in order to build something positive from such a tragic death. Each year they hold an international photographic competition for young photographers who are either attending a full-time photographic course or are under 24.
The Ian Parry Scholarship is divided into two categories: The Sunday Times Award for Achievement and The Canon Award for Potential. Each winner will receive $3,500 for their chosen project, as well as mentorship and other forms of professional support. The 2020 Deadline is July 9. Go to ianparry.org/scholarship for more details.

Leica Oskar Barnack Award
The Leica Oskar Barnack Award is for professional photographers whose unerring powers of observation capture and express the relationship between man and the environment in the most graphic form. The winner of the “Leica Oskar Barnack Award” receives a Leica M camera and a lens worth 10,000 Euros in addition to a cash prize of 10,000 Euros.
Light Work Grants in Photography
Three $3,000 grants will be awarded to photographers who reside within an approximate 50-mile radius of Syracuse, N.Y. The recipients of these grants are invited to display their work in a special exhibition at Light Work, and their work will also be reproduced in Light Work’s award-winning publication, Contact Sheet: The Light Work Annual.
International Photography Awards
The 11 Category winners in the Professional Categories will each receive a $1,000 cash prize, and the 11 Category winners in the Non-Professional Categories will each receive a $500 prize. Each of the above winners will also receive two tickets to attend the Lucie Awards Gala in New York city, where they will be finalists for the International Photographer of the Year (Professional Categories) and Discovery of the Year (Non-Professional Categories). National Geographic Early Career Grant
The National Geographic Explorer Grants are separated into two levels: Level 1 is for individuals earlier in their career, and Level 2 is for those who are more established in their field. The grants fund individuals working on projects in science, conservation, storytelling, education, and technology that align with one or more of National Geographic’s focus areas. In addition to providing project funds, the NG Society will actively seek to help recipients network, connect, and learn with National Geographic and each other, empower them with cutting-edge tools, technology, and training, and further their impact and recognition through the society’s storytelling.

NPPF Student Scholarships
The National Press Photographers Foundation scholarships are awarded to encourage those with the talent and dedication to photojournalism and who need financial help to continue their studies. These awards are directed toward those studying full-time or returning to college.
Open Society Fellowship
The Open Society Fellowship supports individuals pursuing innovative and unconventional approaches to fundamental open society challenges to enrich public understanding of those challenges and stimulate far-reaching and probing conversations within the Open Society Foundations and in the world.
Photographic Museum of Humanity
The Photographic Museum of Humanity Grant is an international contest with the aim to finance talented photographers and discover new talents. A total of $4,000 will be awarded.
Rory Peck Trust Assistance Grants
Rory Peck Trust offers individual grants to freelance newsgatherers and/or their families who find themselves in a critical situation. This includes freelancers who have been threatened, imprisoned or injured, forced into hiding or exile, or killed.
Sony World Photography Awards
The Sony World Photography Awards is open to photographers at every experience level and offers $30,000 in annual cash prizes and Sony equipment. Photographers are invited to submit a single shot or photo series.
Travel Photographer of the Year
The Travel Photographer of the Year contest is “by photographers, for photographers” and seeks entries from around the world. Winning photographs are printed in TPOY books, displayed at the Museum of London Dockland and in traveling exhibits.
The W. Eugene Smith Fund
The W. Eugene Smith Grant in Humanistic Photography is presented annually to a photographer whose past work and proposed project, as judged by a panel of experts, follows the tradition of W. Eugene Smith’s concerned photography and dedicated compassion exhibited during his 45-year career as a photographic essayist.
The W. Eugene Smith Howard Chapnick Grant
The Howard Chapnick Grant was developed to encourage and support leadership in fields ancillary to photojournalism, such as editing research, education and management. The annual $5,000 grant may be used to finance any of a range of qualified undertakings, which might include a program of further education, research, a special long-term sabbatical project, or an internship to work with a noteworthy group or individual.
